RDP Software

The RDP PavePro is a software program developed to analyze IRIS GPR pavement data. PavePro determines pavement layer thickness, detects voids, subsurface moisture and deteriorated concrete, and can operate independently in an automatic mode or with user assistance. PavePro software employs a combination of sophisticated statistical analysis, pattern recognition and expert-system based algorithms to achieve its performance in locating and tracking subsurface layers. Using statistical pavement data, a special histogram based, method was developed, representing a compromise between long and short term variations in signal strength and location, to identify valid signals and layers. A matched-filter based technique was also developed to differentiate pavement interface signals relative to clutter, and an expert-system based scheme is employed to validate the detection of subsurface layers. These advanced signal processing features provide improved pavement layer thickness measurement as compared to conventional techniques and permit users who have relatively little experienced in GPR signal analysis to effectively utilize GPR technology. All measurements are stored in a formatted ASCII files which can be exported to spread sheet or data base programs, printed as a numerical listings or displayed graphically as a continuous 2-D or 3-D scrolling layer profile. For expert users, a semi-automatic thickness processing mode is also available that permits dynamic user identification and tracking of multiple layer interface signals, designation of signal polarities and processing parameters such as dielectric constant, layer attenuation and signal transit time. The semi-automatic processing software is also used to detect voids and high moisture content beneath pavements by providing continuous measurement of signal polarity and reflectivity based upon the location of user operated range gates. Processed data can then be presented in a color topographical, plan-view mapping of the pavement structure.
