TECHNICAL SERVICES - TUNNEL & WALL INSPECTION

Penetradar has developed handheld and vehicular options for Ground Penetrating Radar to accommodate for a variety of tunnel and wall surveys.

GROUND PENETRATING RADAR (GPR)

GPR is an effective means of determining the condition of tunnel walls and linings. GPR can detect many tunnel related problems including deterioration of the inner linings, moisture in and behind linings and the source of moisture. It can detect debonded tile and lining separations, as well as the location of reinforcement. New GPR technology, which combines non-contacting GPR with remote antenna positioning permits rapid inspections of roadway and rail tunnels with minimal traffic disruptions.

INFRARED THERMOGRAPHY (IRT)

IRT produces high resolution thermal images which when applied to tunnels can identify cracks in the liner and areas of water flow. This non-contacting method can be used for rapid inspections of tunnel walls and ceilings, and can produce graphical mappings of distress.

The use of a high-resolution infrared camera allows for thermal imaging of the entirety of the tunnel walls & ceiling.
